Michael Hart MP was elected as the State Member for Burleigh at the historic March 2012 Newman Government landslide victory and then re-elected in January 2015.
He was appointed Shadow Minister for Energy, Biofuels and Water Supply in May 2016.
Michael served on the Infrastructure Planning and Natural Resources parliamentary committee in 2012 and was Deputy Chair of the committee in 2015-2016 (June).
Prior to his election Michael worked in a number of industries including aviation, manufacturing and as a small business owner employing locals.
Since moving to Burleigh in 1986 to raise his young family, Michael has been actively involved in a wide variety of local organisations on a volunteer basis as a Rotarian and a patrolling Surf Life Saver.
As an active member in the community Michael regularly holds mobile offices and listening booths known as ‘Burleigh Blitzes’. This gives residents an informal opportunity to engage with their MP.
As a community-minded local, Michael is honoured to be the Patron of the Palm Beach Soccer Club, Gold Coast Lapidary Club and the South Coast Branch of Surf Life Saving Queensland.
