A day to thank school P&Cs
Burleigh schools will show their appreciation to Parents’ and Citizens’ (P&C) Associations by hosting special events and activities for their members and volunteers on P&C Day, Friday 23 May 2014.
Member for Burleigh Michael Hart MP said P&C Day was an opportunity to recognise the contribution of the 9 school P&Cs in Burleigh.
“The Queensland Government values the role of P&C Associations in state education because we know that parent and community engagement has a powerful impact on student outcomes,” Mr Hart.
“P&Cs actively support their school communities and today is a great opportunity to acknowledge and thank all P&Cs for their important role in supporting their schools.
“Burleigh schools are working with less red tape and more autonomy under this government, providing more opportunities for P&Cs to be involved in decision making.
“Our P&Cs are doing a great job of supporting the Government’s school improvement agenda and many have been working with Principals to set goals and strategies for their school’s Great Results Guarantee.
“I thank our P&C Associations for embracing the new initiatives introduced by the Newman Government and I look forward to their continued support in achieving great outcomes for schools in Burleigh.”
“P&C presidents are an integral part of our school communities and I congratulate them on their tireless efforts.”
Mr Hart said P&C Associations had been an integral part of the Queensland state schooling community for more than 60 years.
“Queensland P&Cs have clocked up more than a million volunteer hours and raised nearly $250 million this year to enhance the state schooling experience for young Queenslanders,” he said.
