MR M HART ASKED THE MINISTER FOR MAIN ROADS, ROAD SAFETY AND

PORTS AND MINISTER FOR ENERGY, BIOFUELS AND WATER SUPPLY (HON

M BAILEY)—

QUESTION: Will the Minister advise, shown as a breakdown by region, how many

solar PV panel installations in regional Queensland have been required to use export

protection equipment or network protection equipment since 1 January 2015?

ANSWER:

Approximately one in five homes in regional Queensland have solar photovoltaic (PV),

with Queensland recording the highest residential rooftop solar PV penetration rate in

the world.

All solar PV installations on the Ergon Energy distribution network are required to have

network protection equipment installed to comply with AS/NZ4777. As at March 2017,

there were 124,691 solar PV installations with network protection equipment on the

Ergon Energy distribution network.

The table below shows the regional breakdown for the number of solar PV installations

on the Ergon Energy network:
