Burleigh MP Launches Guide to Giving

Burleigh children who are doing it tough will have more joy this festive season, with the launch of the ‘Burleigh Guide to Giving’ urging locals to show their Christmas Spirit and donate a present to brighten the life of a child.

Member for Burleigh Michael Hart MP said Christmas can be a difficult time for kids when money is tight or if they can’t live at home, but by donating a small present we can let these children and young people know that we care.

“Last year we had an overwhelming response to the appeal with so many children receiving a gift, and we are asking you to again get behind this Appeal,” he said.

Presents can include a range of items, including gift cards, sporting equipment, board games, clothes and books or any gift suitable for toddlers through to teens.

“The age of boys and girls in need across Queensland this Christmas ranges from babies right through to 17 year olds.

“Gifts do not need to be costly — inexpensive presents can bring just as much joy as something expensive — gifts worth as little as $5 may be suitable.”

The appeal runs from 23 November to 7 December to allow time for gifts to be sorted and allocated to local community groups including Angels of the Forgotten and the Burleigh Pregnancy & Family Support Association.

Presents can be dropped off under the tree at the Burleigh Electorate Office.
