Member for Burleigh Michael Hart today announced he has become an Ambassador for Queensland White Ribbon Day.

“This is a great cause and I am urging the Gold Coast community to give White Ribbon Day the support and recognition it deserves,” Mr Hart said.

“The message for this awareness campaign is all about the prevention of violence against women and the support for victims of this abuse.”

“Whether they be the abuser or the abused. We need to help people identify the problem and stop violence against women.”

“I will be working hard to raise awareness ahead of White ribbon day to be held on 25 November”

“I have made my oath ‘Never Violent – Never Silent’ and encourage men and boys of all ages to show their support by swearing the oath too,” Mr Hart said.

Every day there are 1,000 women assaulted across Australia. Nine out of ten of these incidents go unreported in Queensland.

“It’s time our community got involved to help reduce these statistics,” Mr Hart said.
