Labor Misleads Locals Over Local PCYC Funding

19 Jun 2012 12:00 AMMichael Hart

Member for Burleigh Michael Hart has slammed Labor’s attempt to mislead Queensland families over funding arrangements for PCYC programs across the State.

Mr Hart said Labor was trying to run a scare campaign about funding cuts to the PCYC, including the local branch.

“The $1.9 million in savings, which Labor has lazily labelled a ‘spending cut’, will actually come from a single PCYC program in Cape York which has surplus funding because of an underspend,” Mr Hart said.

“Instead of doing their homework and finding out the facts, Labor has acted in typical fashion and issued misleading media releases across the State in an attempt to scare local families about cuts to their local PCYC.

“Their claims are false.

“The CEO of PCYC Queensland Rob Fiedler has also publicly acknowledged that there is no across the board funding cut to the organisation.”
