Media statement from LNP Shadow Energy Minister Michael Hart

Tuesday, May 21, 2019

“Legal action launched in the Supreme Court by Brigalow Solar, backed up by the Clean Energy Council, justifies the LNP move to block new regulations that are nothing to do with safety and everything to do with keeping ETU bosses happy.

“That’s why the LNP moved to disallow the new regulation in Parliament last week with the full support of peak bodies the Clean Energy Council and Master Electricians.

“The Palaszczuk Labor Government’s plan will hurt investment, reduce jobs and drive up electricity bills.

“We are all about safety, but these new regulations are just another unnecessary cost for Queenslanders.

“It’s anticipated prices will soar up to 20 per cent to build the average solar farm.

“We want lower electricity prices in Queensland, but this will only drive up prices.

“Fewer renewable energy projects means fewer jobs for Queenslanders.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk has already slugged Queenslanders five new taxes, the cost of living has sky-rocketed, petrol prices are at record highs and now it will cost more to build solar farms.”
