Meet Michael

I’ve called the Burleigh Electorate home for over 30 years now, there is really nowhere else I would rather live. Having owned and operated a small business locally, as well as raising my three kids here, I know the issues and concerns that matter most to locals. Before being elected to Parliament, I worked locally in the airline industry as an aircraft engineer on the Gold Coast. I eventually left the airline industry and set up a niche engineering and manufacturing company in Burleigh that focused on photochemical machining and laser cutting, which I operated successfully for 15 years. I’m a volunteer Surf Life Saver and have held many positions in Pacific SLSC while seeing my children through Nippers. I’ve also been an active member of the local Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce for many years and a big supporter of the Burleigh in Pink campaign raising funds and awareness for Breast Cancer. I’m proud to have delivered some great achievements for the Burleigh Electorate including:

  • $1.8m upgrade of the Burleigh fire station
  • Flashing lights providing safety to all our local schools
  • Almost $1m upgrade to David Fleay Wildlife with an amphitheater & pontoon
  • Road upgrades to James St, West Burleigh Rd intersection, and the Reedy Creek Rd, Bermuda St intersection.

I have also secured well over $2m in funding to community & sporting groups including the Men’s Shed, Palm Beach Soccer Club, Palm Beach Meals on Wheels, and more. I’m keen as ever to keep on delivering, to make our area an even better place to live. My priorities are busting congestion, keeping down the cost of living, preserving our environment, and backing small businesses.

There’s always more to be done, I will continue to be a strong advocate for the community I call home. You can get in touch with me on (07) 5560 4100 or by emailing burleigh@parliament.qld.gov.au, or follow me on Facebook or Instagram by searching Michael Hart MP.
