Member for Burleigh calls out ALP for handing in LNP homework
Member for Burleigh Michael Hart is disappointed the Labor Party continue to claim responsibility of
the good works instigated and funded by the previous LNP Government.
Treasurer Curtis Pitt and Minister for National Parks, Dr Steven Miles, were both in attendance at
David Fleay Wildlife Park today for the grand opening of the Park’s new amphitheatre and the
boardwalk and canoe facility.
As a long-time supporter of the David Fleay Wildlife Park and as the initiator of the pontoon facility
(evidenced in the attached letter), Mr Hart says ‘I’m disappointed I wasn’t invited to the opening of
either event given I am the local member and have personally championed both sets of works.’
‘It appears the Palaszczuk Labor Government are only interested in playing politics and not
considering the best interests of our Tourism, National Parks and Sport and Recreation industries.’
‘Through consultation with many stakeholders back in 2013, I came up with the idea of linking the
Tallebudgera Recreation facility with Fleays to support waning attendance numbers and provide
another fantastic experience to patrons of the Recreation Centre.’
‘It certainly would have been nice to celebrate the fruition of my works with the local community
instead of being shut out altogether while Labor steal the credit.’
