Newman Government Delivers a Safer Burleigh

Member for Burleigh Michael Hart MP asked the Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services during Question Time this week about how the Government is delivering on its commitment to make Queensland the safest place to live, work and raise a family.

“This Government has a strong plan to crack down on crime and we are seeing results across the board on the Gold Coast,” Mr Hart said.

“We have seen a significant reduction in crime from 1 July 2013 to 1 July 2014 including a 37% reduction in robberies.”

The Government is delivering for the Gold Coast with more front-line police officers, a state of the art police helicopter and the establishment of a rapid action patrol hub.

The Minister for Police said the Member for Burleigh shares the Governments vision for a safer Queensland and regularly attends the local Police Community Consultative Committee meetings, Neighbourhood Watch meetings and recently hosted a community Law and Order Forum.

“I would like to take this opportunity to again thank the Member for Burleigh for his dedication and hard work in the community and his strong support for local police,” the Minister for Police said.

“Only the LNP has a strong plan for a brighter and safer future to revitalise front-line services and to ensure police have the resources they need to crack down on crime and make our streets even safer – not just now but for the future generations of the Gold Coast,” the Minister said.
