Queensland Government responds to ‘People’s Plan’

Families in Burleigh will be able to track the progress of the 30-year Queensland Plan and the delivery of key initiatives through an online whole of Government response.

Member for Burleigh Michael Hart MP said the ‘People’s Plan’ will guide the Government’s actions in ensuring that Queensland is the best place to live, work and raise a family.

“We have listened to the priorities, goals and aspirations of Queenslanders and every initiative our government introduces from this point forward will be aimed at helping achieve this vision,” Mr Hart said.

“It encompasses many areas that are important to families such as health and wellbeing, the economy and growing regional Queensland and creating jobs.

“Education was also a key focus for Queenslanders and that is why the LNP Government has launched the Best Start initiative to improve early literacy through libraries.

“This $20 million program is just one of many programs we will be rolling out across the state to complete the vision that Queenslanders gave us through this plan.”

Member for Burleigh said the response to The Queensland Plan was being delivered online so that the government can progressively add new actions as they are developed over time.

“Our response is not a single point-in-time statement because just like Queensland, it must evolve over time,” he said.

“Delivering on The Queensland Plan will also require the input of individuals, organisations and all levels of Government.

“I encourage all constituents in Burleigh to collaborate with us to tackle future issues and ensure we can make The Queensland Plan a reality.”

The Government’s response to The Queensland Plan will build upon the strong plan that is already underway to deliver the outcomes Queenslanders need and want.

This includes initiatives such as:

  • Great Teachers = Great Results, a $537 million initiative aimed at boosting teacher performance and school autonomy
  • Housing 2020 Strategy, a plan to deliver 12,000 new homes for Queenslanders most in need
  • ConstructionQ, DestinationQ, RegionsQ and InfrastructureQ, creating a 20 year blueprint for the industries future as part of growing our four pillar economy
  • Blueprint for better healthcare in Queensland
  • Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Economic Participation Framework and Action Plan
  • Royalties for the Regions

Premier Campbell Newman said growing regional Queensland was a vital part of The Queensland Plan.

“Queenslanders wanted to see the regions grow and we have spoken about the desire to see this happen,” Mr Newman said.

“We have already developed the Regions Q Strategy and Action Plan to grow regional jobs while our Royalties for the Regions program is supercharging regional economies,” he said.

“But there is so much more that we are doing and I encourage all Queenslanders to visit the website, see how our strategies and programs and learn more about how you can get involved.

“We are committed to making The Queensland Plan a reality and we have a strong plan to achieve this.”
