Question on Notice No. 108

MR M HART ASKED THE MINISTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE GREAT BARRIER REEF AND MINISTER FOR SCIENCE AND YOUTH AFFAIRS
(HON M SCANLON)—

QUESTION:
Will the Minister advise Queensland’s total stationary energy emissions (in millions of
tonnes) in (a) 2017, (b) 2018, (c) 2019 and (d) 2020?

ANSWER:
I thank the Member for the question.
State and Territory Greenhouse Gas Inventories are prepared by the Commonwealth
Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources. The greenhouse gas
emissions data is two years in arrears consistent with United Nations Climate Change
Convention reporting rules. The most recent year of the State and Territory
Greenhouse Gas Inventories provided by the Commonwealth is 2018.
Annual State and Territory greenhouse gas emission estimates are published on the
Commonwealth Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources’ website at
https://www.industry.gov.au/data-and-publications/state-and-territory-greenhousegas-inventories; and the timeseries data is available on the Australian Greenhouse
Emissions Information System at: https//ageis.climatechange.gov.au/SGGI.aspx.
Queensland’s total stationary energy emissions data (in millions of tonnes of
greenhouse gas equivalent (Mt CO2-e)) is 74.8 Mt CO2-e for 2017, and 77.6 Mt CO2-e
for 2018.
