Stars Continue to Align for Local Gymnastics Club

Member for Burleigh Michael Hart MP welcomes the announcement that the local Gold Coast Gymnastics Club has been named the Gymnastics Queensland Club of the Year.

“The club picked up the prestigious award at the state associations annual awards night where they also won an award for Men’s Gymnastics Program of the Year,” Mr Hart said.

In winning the major award, the club was chosen for its large membership, consistent growth, competitive success, community involvement, staff training and mentorship.

Mr Hart last week was pleased to be able assist this community group by presenting a cheque for $23,770.91 made available under the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

“The grant provided will go a long way to helping the gymnastics club to provide such a valuable service to the Burleigh and Gold Coast area and it is great to see such an achievement off the back of providing the grant,” he said.

Club General Manager Phil Hanson said the win was a great thrill for the staff and members.

“Since the publicity surrounding the 2000th member in September, the club has added a further 300 members to cement its place as Australia’s largest gymnastics club.”

The club was established in 1988 and has supported gold Olympic medallists.
