State funding boost for local community groups

Burleigh’s Pacific Surf Life Saving Club and Gold Coast Gymnastics Club are among those who were successful under the latest round of State Government community funding.

It’s part of millions of dollars provided across Queensland through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

Member for Burleigh Michael Hart MP said the Newman Government recognised the struggle for funding is constant and that it is wonderful to provide much-needed financial support through these grants every few months.

“These groups work tirelessly out in the community and I’m thrilled their work can continue,” Mr Hart said.

Organisations within the Burleigh electorate successful in this round were:

  • Gold Coast Gymnastics Club, $23,770.91, purchase of sports equipment
  • Pacific Surf Life Saving Club, $22,136.36, purchase of a vehicle and equipment

Mr Hart said these grants will go a long way helping the community and providing services throughout Burleigh.

“These grants are designed for approved not-for-profit organisations and are not intended to replace existing sources of support for these organisations,” he said.

“I encourage all groups in the community to apply for the next round of funding before the end of February 2014.
