Statement from LNP Shadow Energy Minister Michael Hart

Tuesday, 20 June 2017

Labor’s decision to delay deregulation of the energy market has cost south east Queensland families $400.

Labor is now having to increase some concessions because they have failed dismally to keep their promise to Queenslanders to lower electricity prices. Instead, power bills have sky-rocketed.

Most hardworking Queensland families who don’t have a concession card, and aren’t asylum seekers, will receive no relief from higher electricity prices.

Queensland families and small businesses are paying for these extra concessions, it’s a money-merry-go-round and hardworking Queenslanders are paying the price.

This year alone, electricity bills are going up by at least $50 for households and $100 for small businesses.

Labor is so out of touch they think these increases are good a thing.

The LNP is committed to providing reliable and affordable electricity.
