Strong Plan to Tackle Crime on Coast

Only a re-elected Newman LNP Government will continue to slash the number of break-ins and robberies in Burleigh, local member Michael Hart said today.

Mr Hart said Burleigh had seen a 59 per cent fall in robberies and 43 per cent fall in break-ins since the LNP was elected in 2012.

“The contrast between Labor’s record on crime and ours couldn’t be more dramatic,” Mr Hart said.

“Only the LNP has a strong plan to make Burleigh a safer place to live, work and raise a family.

“These reductions in serious crimes have not happened by accident.

“We’ve introduced stronger laws and put more than 100 additional police officers on the Gold Coast.

“Our strong stance has been effective in targeting criminal gangs and organized crime on the Gold Coast and across Queensland.

“Since our stronger laws were introduced, 1706 criminal gang participants have been arrested on 4,710 charges.

“This work would be undone if Labor carried through its threat to replace our tough laws.”
