Tough stance on crime pays off with zero thefts at Gold Coast premises
The Queensland Government’s unapologetic tough stance on crime has been supported by a new technology that uses criminal marketing technology to identify thieves.
Following a series of distressing attacks on local clubs and businesses at Pizzey Park, the Australian DNA Guardian technology was deployed as a trial in 2012.

Two years later, on 7 August, Member for Burleigh Michael Hart announced to Parliament that the highly successful trial has led to zero robberies during the entire period since the DNA spray system was fitted.

“The Newman government has always stated it would be tough on crime and it was with this mindset that we decided to trial technologies that could make a real difference to the community,” Mr Hart said.
“Pizzey Park was chosen as it had repeated problems for years, culminating in nine robberies and associated vandalism with in 21 days. Miami Seniors Tennis Club alone had 13 break-ins in two weeks.”
“The crimes were devastating the community. Business owners were literally in tears.”
DNA Security Solutions is an Australian company with offices in both Sydney and the Gold Coast and its head office in Adelaide, as well as select distributors across Australia.
DNA Guardian technology uses an indelible spray that acts as a deterrent by making it easier to identify thieves via a ‘DNA’ signature unique to that business. Primarily aimed at businesses like hotel and clubs, service stations, post offices, pharmacists, jewelers and small convenience stores, DNA Guardian is applicable for anyone experiencing the terrifying act of armed robbery.
DNA’s Managing Director, Tania Jolley, said that more than 5,000 armed robberies occur across Australia every year.
“The psychological, emotional and financial loss to the community is enormous,” Ms Jolley said.
“Preventing this opportunistic crime is the only way to reduce the significant costs this places on businesses and the community, both in terms of the financial outcome and the fear generated by repeat attacks.”
For example, when an entrance is forced a mist that contains the unique DNA signature sprays onto the criminal, allowing the perpetrator to be forensically connected with the crime at a later date. Even should a criminal persist, the DNA staining would lead to an easy conviction for Police – with no chance of a false alibi.
Hundreds of businesses, from SME operators to blue chip multi-nationals, have installed DNA Guardian™ criminal marking technology, which is proving to be the greatest deterrent, delivering a 95% success rate in preventing and reducing crime.
The Member for Burleigh applauds the work of DNA Guardian technology in the community and its genuine role in crime prevention.
